Wind doesn’t have to be tornado‐level to cause real trouble. Around Elk Grove Village and the northwest Chicago suburbs, a fast-moving storm can peel shingles, rip gutters off the house, send branches into siding or windows, and push rain into places it was never meant to go.
Pro Tec Restoration provides professional wind damage restoration and storm damage repair for homes and commercial properties. We secure the property, dry and clean what has been affected, and handle repairs so you can get back to using your space without worrying about the last storm.
What To Expect From Our Wind Damage Restoration Service
Initial inspection and safety check
We begin with a careful inspection of the roof, siding, gutters, windows, and doors. Inside, we look at attics, ceilings, upper walls, and any rooms where you have seen staining or moisture. If there are hazards such as broken glass, loose materials, or unstable sections, we address those first.
Securing and temporary protection
Next, we make sure your home is protected from the next round of weather. That can include roof tarps over missing shingles or exposed decking, boards over broken windows and doors, temporary repairs to damaged gutters or soffits, and removal of loose branches or debris around the structure. The goal is to stop new water from coming in and buy time for permanent repairs.
Water mitigation and drying
If wind driven rain has gotten inside, simply wiping up a puddle is not enough. We remove standing water, take out materials that cannot be salvaged, and set up professional dehumidifiers and air movers to dry framing, subfloors, and hidden cavities. We use moisture meters to confirm when materials are truly dry. This is what helps prevent mold and avoids the frustration of a ceiling or wall that fails again a few months later.
Repairs and reconstruction
Once the structure is dry and stable, we begin repairs. That may include replacing damaged shingles and underlayment, repairing or replacing sections of siding and trim, reinstalling gutters and downspouts, and replacing broken windows or doors. Inside, we repair drywall, insulation, trim, paint, and flooring where needed. We work carefully so repaired areas blend with the rest of your home rather than drawing attention to themselves.
Insurance and Wind Damage: Straight Answers
Wind and storm losses frequently involve an insurance claim. That part can be confusing, especially if you have never filed a claim before.
Here is how we typically help:
We document what we find with photos, moisture readings, and written notes.
Our estimates are broken into clear sections: emergency services, mitigation and drying, and repairs.
If your adjuster has questions about the scope of work, we can speak with them directly at your request.
We do not interpret your policy or decide what is covered. That is between you and your carrier. What we can do is make sure the damage and the work are clearly presented so your adjuster has what they need to make a decision.

Call Pro Tech Restoration For 24/7 Wind Damage Restoration
If your home has been through a windstorm and you are seeing roof, siding, window, or interior damage, contact Pro Tec Restoration. Call (847) 558-6604 for emergency response. We serve Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Wood Dale, Bensenville, Itasca, and nearby northwest Chicago suburbs.
In most cases, yes. If your home is in our regular service area, we will inspect the damage, explain what we recommend, and provide a written estimate at no charge. If a situation requires unusual travel or multiple inspection visits, we will discuss any potential fees before you schedule.
The cost is based on the amount of work needed in three areas. First is securing and stabilizing the property. Second is water mitigation and structural drying if rain has gotten inside. Third is the repair and reconstruction work. A small section of roof repair with no interior damage will be very different from a multi room loss with ceilings, walls, and flooring involved. We measure, document, and then build the estimate from that information rather than using a one size fits all number.
Many homeowners policies cover sudden damage from wind and the resulting water damage inside the home. Some limits and exclusions can apply, especially for older roofs or prior conditions. Once you report the loss, we can provide your adjuster with photos, moisture readings, and a breakdown of the work so they can review it against your policy. We are also happy to answer technical questions from your adjuster about what was done and why.
Every carrier handles payment a little differently. Sometimes payment is issued directly to the contractor, and sometimes it is sent to you as the policyholder. We will explain how we typically handle billing in your situation, including how deductibles work and what happens if the carrier pays in stages.
If your home is open to the weather or taking on water, waiting is usually not in your best interest. Most insurance companies expect homeowners to take reasonable steps to protect their property. That includes tarping, board up, and drying. We document each step with photos and readings so the adjuster can see what was done during the emergency phase.
If it is safe and you can stay away from broken glass and downed lines, move valuables and electronics away from wet areas, place a bucket or towels under active drips, and keep children and pets out of the affected rooms. Avoid climbing on the roof or trying to remove large branches yourself. Once our crew arrives, we will take over from there.

"Had a great experience working with Marshall when we had an emergency leak at my mom’s house. He immediately started working to salvage what we could. I felt like he absolutely understood the urgency, and treated my mom like his own! He and the rest of the team were super easy to work with and answered our (many) questions along the way. They were very transparent about the process which was extremely helpful as this was our first time with this kind of issue in 30+ years of owning the house. We so appreciate ProTech for aiding us during our time of need."

"My experience with ProTech was wonderful from the first visit thru the last. Ben did a great job of evaluating the work that needed to be done and explaining everything to me. Frank and Sergio were great to work with because they were pleasant AND they were so very careful about everything they did. All in all, I give the ProTech team an A+!"

"I had a pipe burst and subsequent leakage into my basement. At first I thought that we maybe stopped it in time since we could not see obvious damage but Marshall at ProTech said it would be a good idea to check it out anyway and came out within a couple of days. I’m so glad he did since there was more damage than we anticipated. Marshall explained the damage thoroughly using his imaging techniques and provided a quote within the day. Pricing was good and our insurance accepted the proposal immediately. The ProTech team was able to do the water damage mitigation about a week after the incident and on a Saturday no less. Everything was done super quickly and professionally. While I do not want to deal with any more water damage, the repairs using ProTech were painless. I would recommend this company and especially Marshall to anyone in the same situation."
