Emergency Water Extraction & Structural Drying | On-Site in 60 Minutes
A flooded property is a race against time. Within 24 hours, standing water can compromise your home’s structural integrity and trigger mold growth. ProTech Restoration provides the rapid, technical response needed to stabilize your environment and save your belongings. We serve homeowners and businesses throughout Elgin, including the 60120, 60123, and 60124 zip codes.
Why Elgin Residents Trust ProTech for Water Damage Recovery
We aren’t just a cleaning crew. We are IICRC-certified restoration experts. Our team understands the unique challenges of Fox River Valley properties.
- Rapid Local Arrival: Our crews are stationed to reach any Elgin neighborhood quickly. We can be at your door in downtown Elgin or the Randall Road corridor in under an hour.
- Advanced Moisture Mapping: We use non-invasive thermal imaging cameras. These tools find “hidden” water trapped behind baseboards and under hardwood floors that traditional fans can’t reach.
- Insurance Claim Documentation: We document every step of the drying process. We provide your adjuster with the moisture readings and photos they need for a smooth claim approval.
- IICRC Certified Technicians: Our team is trained to the highest industry standards. We follow strict S500 protocols for professional water damage restoration.
Comprehensive Water Mitigation Services
Effective restoration requires more than basic surface drying. We apply scientific principles to ensure your property is protected against long-term moisture damage and structural decay.
Emergency Water Removal & Pump-Outs
Standing water is a biohazard and a structural threat. We use truck-mounted extraction units to remove thousands of gallons of water in minutes.
Scientific Structural Drying
Removing surface water is only the first step. Moisture deeply penetrates drywall, wall studs, and subfloors. We utilize LGR (Low Grain Refrigerant) dehumidifiers. These units pull moisture from the air even in cool, damp basements. Combined with high-velocity air movers, we create a “dry vortex” to save your home’s framework.
Category 3 Sewage Cleanup
Sewage backups are dangerous. They contain harmful bacteria and pathogens. Our team follows strict sanitization protocols. We remove contaminated materials safely. We use EPA-registered antimicrobials to ensure your space is clinically clean for your family.
Frozen & Burst Pipe Recovery
Elgin winters are notoriously hard on plumbing. We specialize in thawing frozen lines and cleaning up the resulting flood. We focus on “precision drying” to prevent your floor joists from warping after a pipe burst in an attic or crawlspace.
What to Do While Waiting for Our Elgin Crew
If it is safe to enter the flooded area, follow these steps to minimize your loss:
- Stop the Flow: If possible, shut off your main water valve immediately.
- Protect Your Belongings: Place aluminum foil or wood blocks under furniture legs. This prevents permanent “furniture stains” on wet carpet.
- Prioritize Safety: Never enter a room with standing water if the electricity is still on. Do not use a household vacuum to remove water.
- Airflow: If the weather allows, open windows to begin the evaporation process.
Preventing Mold Growth After Water Damage
Water damage and mold growth are inseparable. Mold spores can activate and begin colonizing organic materials like drywall and baseboards in as little as 24 to 48 hours.
The 48-Hour Window
Our primary goal during water extraction is to “stop the clock.” By rapidly reducing the relative humidity in your home, we drop the moisture levels below the threshold required for mold to grow. If your property has been wet for more than two days, we shift our protocol to include:
- Antimicrobial Pre-Treatment: We apply EPA-registered solutions to wet surfaces. This inhibits spore germination while the drying equipment is running.
- Air Scrubbing: We use HEPA-filtered air scrubbers to capture airborne spores. This prevents mold from spreading through your HVAC system to unaffected rooms in your home.
- Containment Barriers: If mold is already visible, we set up physical poly-sheeting barriers. This keeps the rest of your property safe during the drying and removal process.
Worried about a musty smell? Don’t wait for visible spots to appear. Our Elgin team provides professional moisture testing to confirm your home is truly dry and mold-free. [Learn more about our Mold Removal Process →]

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for a house to dry out after a flood?
The structural drying process usually takes 3 to 5 days. The exact time depends on the materials involved. Concrete and hardwood take longer than drywall. We use professional moisture meters to prove the house is dry before we remove our equipment.
Will my insurance cover the cost of water restoration?
Most “sudden and accidental” water damage is covered. This includes burst pipes or water heater failures. “Gradual” leaks or natural river flooding may require specific riders. We can help you review your policy and speak with your adjuster.
Can I save my wet carpets?
If the water is “Category 1” (clean water from a pipe), we can often save the carpet with professional extraction. If the water is contaminated (sewage or river flood), the carpet and pad must be replaced for your safety.

"Had a great experience working with Marshall when we had an emergency leak at my mom’s house. He immediately started working to salvage what we could. I felt like he absolutely understood the urgency, and treated my mom like his own! He and the rest of the team were super easy to work with and answered our (many) questions along the way. They were very transparent about the process which was extremely helpful as this was our first time with this kind of issue in 30+ years of owning the house. We so appreciate ProTech for aiding us during our time of need."

"My experience with ProTech was wonderful from the first visit thru the last. Ben did a great job of evaluating the work that needed to be done and explaining everything to me. Frank and Sergio were great to work with because they were pleasant AND they were so very careful about everything they did. All in all, I give the ProTech team an A+!"

"I had a pipe burst and subsequent leakage into my basement. At first I thought that we maybe stopped it in time since we could not see obvious damage but Marshall at ProTech said it would be a good idea to check it out anyway and came out within a couple of days. I’m so glad he did since there was more damage than we anticipated. Marshall explained the damage thoroughly using his imaging techniques and provided a quote within the day. Pricing was good and our insurance accepted the proposal immediately. The ProTech team was able to do the water damage mitigation about a week after the incident and on a Saturday no less. Everything was done super quickly and professionally. While I do not want to deal with any more water damage, the repairs using ProTech were painless. I would recommend this company and especially Marshall to anyone in the same situation."
