Professional Hoarder House Cleaning & Restoration-Arlington Heights, IL

Pro Tech Restoration

Arlington Heights is home to many different types of residences, including single family homes, apartments, condominiums, and senior living communities. In hoarding situations, these spaces are often the most affected and the most dangerous. What may begin as excess belongings can gradually block exits, trap moisture, limit airflow, and hide plumbing or electrical issues that create serious safety risks over time.

Pro Tech Restoration provides professional and certified hoarding clean up services in Arlington Heights, helping homeowners, seniors living alone, adult children supporting family members, as well as real estate professionals and property managers. Hoarding can occur in any type of home and often goes unnoticed until health, safety, or occupancy concerns arise.

Professional Hoarding Clean Up in Arlington Heights, IL

Pro Tech Restoration was established in 2003 as a fire and water damage restoration company serving communities throughout Chicagoland. That background matters in hoarding situations, where cleanup often uncovers problems that go far beyond clutter. Hidden leaks, mold growth, fire hazards, and sanitation issues are common, and they need to be addressed correctly and without delay.

Our Arlington Heights hoarding cleanup services include:

  • Organized sorting with clear decision authority
  • Removal of unsanitary and hazardous materials
  • Professional cleaning, sanitation, and odor control
  • Biohazard handling when conditions require it
  • Identification of hidden water damage, mold, or fire risks
  • Seamless transition into restoration work when needed

Our Approach to Hoarding Situations

  1. Initial Evaluation: When you contact Pro Tech Restoration, we start with an on-site evaluation of the home. We look at safety issues, sanitation concerns, and whether clutter is blocking access to utilities or exits. This helps us clearly explain what needs to be done and what to expect before cleanup begins.
  2. Structured Cleaning: The cleanup is completed in organized stages so the process does not feel overwhelming. We work with you or an authorized family member to decide what stays and what should be removed. Nothing is discarded without approval unless it presents an immediate safety risk. We keep you informed throughout the cleanup, so you always know what is happening.
  3. Stabilization and Restoration: Once the home is safe and accessible, we address any problems uncovered during cleanup. If repairs or restoration are needed, our team can handle them. The goal is to leave you with a home that feels safe, functional, and ready for the next steps.

Do’s and Don’ts When Dealing With a Hoarding Situation

  • Do put safety first.

Make sure exits, walkways, and access to kitchens, bathrooms, and utilities are clear. Safety should always be addressed before organizing or cleaning.

  • Do take a step-by-step approach.

These situations didn’t develop overnight, and they won’t be resolved in a single day. Working in stages helps reduce stress and leads to better results.

  • Do make sure decision-making is clear.

Having one authorized person involved in key decisions helps prevent confusion and keeps the process moving forward.

  • Do reach out for professional support when conditions are unsafe.

Strong odors, mold, pests, or blocked exits are signs that help is needed to protect everyone involved.

  • Do keep communication open and respectful.

Clear, calm conversations make the process easier for families and reduce emotional strain.

  • Don’t rush or force decisions.

Quickly discarding items can cause distress and resistance. Progress happens when decisions are made thoughtfully.

  • Don’t assume it’s just clutter.

There may be hidden issues such as moisture damage, mold, or fire risks that require trained professionals.

  • Don’t overlook health concerns.

Spoiled food, animal waste, or contaminated materials can pose serious risks and should not be handled without proper precautions.

  • Don’t try to handle severe situations alone.

These environments can be physically and emotionally overwhelming. Support from experienced professionals helps protect your safety.

  • Don’t wait until the situation becomes an emergency.

Addressing concerns early can prevent injuries, property damage, and more complicated repairs later.

"Had a great experience working with Marshall when we had an emergency leak at my mom’s house. He immediately started working to salvage what we could. I felt like he absolutely understood the urgency, and treated my mom like his own! He and the rest of the team were super easy to work with and answered our (many) questions along the way. They were very transparent about the process which was extremely helpful as this was our first time with this kind of issue in 30+ years of owning the house. We so appreciate ProTech for aiding us during our time of need."

"My experience with ProTech was wonderful from the first visit thru the last. Ben did a great job of evaluating the work that needed to be done and explaining everything to me. Frank and Sergio were great to work with because they were pleasant AND they were so very careful about everything they did. All in all, I give the ProTech team an A+!"

"I had a pipe burst and subsequent leakage into my basement. At first I thought that we maybe stopped it in time since we could not see obvious damage but Marshall at ProTech said it would be a good idea to check it out anyway and came out within a couple of days. I’m so glad he did since there was more damage than we anticipated. Marshall explained the damage thoroughly using his imaging techniques and provided a quote within the day. Pricing was good and our insurance accepted the proposal immediately. The ProTech team was able to do the water damage mitigation about a week after the incident and on a Saturday no less. Everything was done super quickly and professionally. While I do not want to deal with any more water damage, the repairs using ProTech were painless. I would recommend this company and especially Marshall to anyone in the same situation."
