On March 5, 2011 I discovered, to my dismay, my entire basement underwater, five inches of water. My first phone call was to Shoda Sewer and my second was to State Farm Claims Department. Shoda Sewer was at my home and in my basement within an hour. Mark installed a temporary pump and State Farm Claims Department contacted the “Water Mitigation Team,” and within an hour of that phone call ServiceMaster (Brad and his team) were downstairs going through my basements like Sherman through Georgia.
ServiceMaster used squeegees, took pictures, assessed damages and pumped water. They pumped a lot of water (thousands of gallons). They showed me what was compromised and went to work. The carpet was removed in sections and put in plastic bags, hauled up the stairs, out the front door and onto the driveway. They took the water damage items (papers, files, pictures) and placed them in plastic bags as well. They didn’t throw these items in bags but gently placed them so as not to ruin them any further. They then placed these bags in my garbage. There were family photos – five generations of family photos – my late husband’s framed documents, scrap booking supplies and much more. Several hours later Shoda Sewer and ServiceMaster were done for the day. They left behind a temporary pump, 12 huge drying fans, 2 humidifiers and a driveway full of wet plastic bags. Did I mention it started to snow? ServiceMaster came back the next day to take away the trash and remove built-in cabinetry – also compromised.
The point of this letter is to inform you that these professionals took an even that was very emotional and damaging and turned it in to something that I could cope with, all the while treating me with respect, treating my things with respect and showing compassion for my predicament.
State Farm Claims Department (Sandy Anderson), Shoda Sewer and ServiceMaster should be recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty. There compassion, their hard work and their talents did not go unnoticed. I would like to thank them all for the hard work they did and a special thanks to the gentlemen who fixed the shaky hand rail on my basement stairs.

They helped make out dreadful, messy situation easier to bear. They were able to dry out our walls without having to remove the insulation. We will highly recommend them to others in the future.
