The short answer to this question is that the rancid oil odor is most likely the Bean-e-doo left over that was not removed by the degreaser. Now here’s the explanation:
Bean-e-doo is a soy gel that is made mostly from soybeans and natural materials. It is non-toxic and odor free, at least at the time it is used. It is good that you used Blue Bear to degrease the floor as the oil residue from the Bean-e-doo must be removed after use. The problem is that concrete floors are porous and there is a chance that the oil got absorbed in the pores of the concrete. The degreaser probably didn’t remove all of the Bean-e-doo oil that got absorbed in the concrete.
Like all types of vegetable oil, soybean oil does go bad and it has a rancid smell when it goes bad. This is the most likely source of the rancid oil smell coming from your basement. In this case, you should consider getting a professional that can either deep clean the concrete floor to remove the oil from the pores, or a professional that can remove the odor with advanced deodorization services.
