Disaster Restoration FAQ – ServiceMaster NCR

Can someone perform a restoration by themselves?

Depending on the severity of the damage, disaster restoration can be a very intensive process that involves several facets including cleaning, repair, and restoration of damaged surfaces.  Certain disasters such as floods and fires cause extensive damage that is restored most effectively with specialty equipment and cleaning products.  When it comes to fire damage, cleaning or restoring the damage improperly can actually make the damage worse.  In most cases, it is best to hire a professional service to handle disaster restoration with their experienced technicians and advanced equipment.

Can a family stay in their home while the restoration is taking place?

This also depends on the severity of the damage.  If the home has sustained widespread damage or severe structural damage that has left it unstable, then your family may not be able to stay in the house as it is being restored.  It is a good idea to have somewhere in mind for you and your family to stay, whether it be with a close friend or family member, in case a disaster forces you to leave your home temporarily.

I see your company has certificates, but are all the workers qualified for the job? Who is actually qualified?

Each of our technicians at ServiceMaster NCR are highly trained and certified to provide quality restoration services using the latest methods, cleaning products, and equipment.  Our technicians also participate in training and safety classes each week to stay up to date on the latest methods and equipment in the industry.

How long will it take to complete the entire project?

The amount of time it will take to restore your home depends on many variables such as the type and extent of the damage.  Some water damage restoration projects can take 3-5 days but damage caused by fire and other major disasters can take weeks to restore.

How quickly will you respond to my call?

Damage caused by natural disasters will get worse until it can be cleaned and restored and we will generally respond within 2 to 4 hours of your initial call to help stop the spread of the damage.

Do you coordinate your work with insurance providers?

We work with many local insurance providers to coordinate payments as well as damage claims.
